K9 Security
Though our community commonly classifies K-9 service dogs as serving Law Enforcement, The Van Loon Security K-9 Unit is our highly recommended, preventive security solution in today’s changing social environments. Possessing heightened senses and agility the K9 Security Dog proves to be an invaluable asset in discouraging those with malicious intents. The K9 assists our K9 Security Officers in patrolling wide areas, access controls and safety management.
Van Loon K9 Security deploys certified K9’s. They are trained by our Certified Dutch instructors conducting the K9’s by trail program, policies and disciplines of the Dutch K.N.P.V(Royal Dutch Police Dog Association), Bond voor de Diensthond (Dutch Working dog Association) and I.P.O(Protection Dog Program). All Van Loon K-9 Handlers undergo and pass an intensive training course with their K9 partner, building a strong relationship and developing complete trust between the handler and his dog.
Why K9's
One of our most flexible departments is our dog security. These are used incidentally as well as for long-term projects. The dogs are known for several advantages:
- Dogs have extremely sensitive and sharp senses, including the sense of smell
- Dogs can detect danger (in the dark) faster than people
- The presence of dogs has a preventive effect
- Even without acting, their presence has a preventive effect
- Dogs are fast and strong
- Create and maintain daily reports
- Dogs have a natural predominance
The dog’s duties include detecting intruders and suspects, drugs, or other prohibited substances. The preventative effect of a dog is beyond doubt. This is especially evident in the preventive deployment at events for example. The presence of a dog prevents disturbances and riots and is a great asset when monitoring objects, patrolling on company sites, and controlling large groups of people. The Van Loon Security dog brigade provides an adequate addition to our security activities.
